Full Sleeve by Jean-Louis

Mixed Style Full Sleeve Project!

My good friend Steve came back into the shop this week to discuss turning a half sleeve which we completed in 2003 into a full sleeve.

When we began the upper half sleeve in 2003, Steve wanted an oriental design which consisted of a Dragon, a Kanji Mask and Kanji Writing with lotus flowers and fire.

Steve wanted to extend this design into a full sleeve and to veer away from the oriental style and to Incorporate a portrait of a Belgium Shepherd dog called Marley. He also wanted to have the phrase “Follow Your Bliss” on the under side of his forearm.

We also included a Polynesian design called a Niho Mano to fill some space between the portrait and the phrase.

The entire sleeve is now a mixture of a tribute to mans best friend, a classic oriental piece, English writing and traditional Polynesian.

Full Left Sleeve

Thanks again to Steve for being a good canvas 🙂
